European Tour Blog #1

As is generally known here - The Tangent and Karmakanic are currently vibing up for the Summers End Festival and have already completed a short series of gigs on the EU Mainland. We have had a fantastic time so far and totally enjoyed ourselves through trials tribulations and plain old fashioned "Good Times". We know that more of all of these will lie ahead and we await them with relish. So today here's part one of the story so far - the preparations we made, the things that went wrong and had to be sorted out.. and the coming together (and near falling apart) of Tangekanic...

Hotel Cantaffordit CD Pre-Order

I´m very pleased to present the next Karmakanic/Tangent output. Hotel Cantaffordit will be a live CD from the recent European/US tour. The CD is be released in early 2018.

So let me start bitching about this even before the tour has started and nothing is recorded yet. Why? That's a valid question and I will try to answer it to the best of my knowledge.

WE NEED THE MONEY!!!! PERIOD!!!

We lost a well payed gig in Boston that was one of the anchor gigs to finance this tour. We run into totally overpriced VISA application costs. Do you know how much a application cost for a band like us? 2500 US dollars, just to get in. Then add flights, accommodation, hiring a van, gas, hiring a rehearsal room, paying salary for the band members, domestic travels prior the rehearsals and all other little things that I´ve forgotten right now and you´ll probably understand that the numbers are totally in the red.

So why even think of doing this? Why just not cut the whining and throw this project right out of the window? I´ll try to answer that too.

The New Album

The new album by the Tangent is called "The Slow Rust Of Forgotten Machinery". Released on July 21 2017 this is the bands 9th studio album for Insideout. The album is a long format single CD (79 minutes) and a Double Vinyl Album. The album features only 5 pieces and therefore it follows that most of these pieces are long and involved.

It's one of the more complex and ambitious pieces the band have done, having many similarities in format to the "Sacre Du Travail" album of 2013, yet it's a different kind of beast altogether. Less classically influenced, the album is a massive fusion of styles from straight Prog Rock through Jazz Fusion, calling at Punk , Electronic Dance and even something that could almost be thought of as Rap.
