rob groucutt

Rob Groucutt joined the band just after the completion of "Was" in early 2026. He came highly recommended by John Jowitt who had recently joined himself. The Tangent has always been a band that was designed to operate with two keyboards players, one to deal with Organs and Synthesisers and the other to deal with orchestrations and pianos. That's the general guideline, but not a fixed rule as in practise the work is shared in a common sense way.

Rob is a multi instrumentalist and he plays guitar and sings too and has a lot of skills in arrangement. He's played for Tim Bowness along with John Jowitt and Matt Stevens, (a close Tangent friend) - plus he's been part of the excellent band "Rain" and played for "Freedom To Glide"

Rob's musical lineage is impressive, son of Kelly Groucutt who was a long term key member of ELO. But that's an item of interest! Rob is in the Tangent now after a very impressive start with the band where he not only "did the job requested" to levels of excellence but was a real problem solver on a number of levels. His contributions to the next recordings will be highly anticipated!
